Shopify Bundles app alternative: when you need more than fixed bundles

Shopify Bundles is free and made by Shopify, and for a simple kit it can be all you need. Its limits show up when you sell variants, want tiers like 'buy 2, save 10%', or want the offer on the product page.

What Shopify Bundles does well

It's free and maintained by Shopify.
Fixed bundles of up to 30 components, and mix-and-match style bundles of up to 150.
Inventory is taken from the component products, and orders list each item's SKU.
It sells on the Online Store, Shop, POS and headless storefronts.

Limits in Shopify's own documentation

3 options and 100 variants per bundle. Two T-shirts with Style and Size can already go past that.
The bundle price doesn't follow your product prices. When a component's price changes, you edit the bundle price by hand.
A bundle is a separate product. It needs its own images and description, and it starts with no reviews or search history.
Bundles don't appear in option filters in Search & Discovery.
Inventory is tracked as overall stock, not by location.

When another app is the better fit

You want tiers: buy 2 save 10%, buy 3 save 20%.
You want the offer on the product page, next to Add to cart, using the products you already have.
You want buy X get Y, free gifts that unlock as the cart grows, or a bulk order table.
You want the bundle price to follow your product prices as a percentage off.

How ZS Bundles handles it

Install ZS Bundles and press Turn on in theme, then Save in the theme editor.
Click Create bundle deal and pick a template. Complete the bundle is a fixed set; Quantity breaks and Black Friday deal are tiers.
The bundle starts with the product you previewed. Adjust the saving as a percentage, so it follows your prices.
Publish. Shopify applies the price at checkout. No discount code needed.
